The old saying "Opposites Attract" is one that I have agreed with at times, and often disagreed with other times.
Common sense would tell you that you should be with someone that is like you. Someone that thinks like you. Someone that enjoys the same things as you do. Heck, even E-Harmony matches you with someone that is LIKE you, right?! (And from what I hear, they have a pretty good success rate going on right now. If I were single, I might even try it out from hearing all the positive things-ha!)
So why do they say opposites attract....and then match you with someone extremely similar to you? I am really not sure, but it's something I have been thinking about.
A few weeks ago me and Brandon were joking around and were asking ourselves...I wonder if we both got on E-Harmony would they match us together? BOTH of us loooked at each other at the same time and said "no way" and then laughed.
We are NOTHING alike! And I mean nothing. Our brains are from two different planets. We never think the same in ANY situation. We enjoy totally different hobbies. And it makes me wonder how we ever ended up together.
I guess the answer is....we were best friends first. We had fun together. We laughed...we talked...I did the hunting thing with him and acted like I liked it...but that was only to get him to like me!! I did what I had to do ya know. Once he liked me I could be honest and tell him I don't get hunting. But really, we met when we were 12...at church. Been friends ever since. And fell in love somewhere along the way. And that is why we ended up together....only because of the friendship. And maybe it was just in God's big plan :)
The "facts" are against us if you look at them. This is why E-Harmony would never match us. (Good thing God did!)
**He is a country boy...I am a city girl.
**He loves to save money...I love to spend money.
**He is laid back...I am as far as you can get from laid back.
**He hates to exercise....I love to exercise.
**He loves the outdoors....I love the mall.
**He thinks logically about everything...I think with my heart.
**He looks at the big picture...I look at this week.
**He goes with the flow...I have to plan everything.
**He says it how it is....I beat around the bush, around & around.
**He likes to get dirty....I like to be clean.
**He hides emotion....I show emotion.
**He listens....I talk. (well, he sometimes listens:)
**He thinks we should save all of our income tax money...I think its time for a shopping spree.
**He likes seafood...I hate it.
**He is left-brained....I am right-brained.
**He is book smart....I am people smart.
**He has the brain to be successful and make the money....I have the heart to use that money to help others.
**He plans for the future (and I mean when we are 70)....I live only for today.
**He likes killing/fighting movies....I like love stories.
There are a lot of differences. We are obviously opposites. But we do attract. The thing is, we balance each other out. I am WAY too extreme sometimes, but he can draw me back in to where I need to be. He wants to save, save, save...but I can argue with him until he eventually meets me half way and we can have some fun. It's just the way it works. And most of the time, it works well.
E-Harmony might not have put us together and called us a "Match-made in Heaven." But I would.

Amen! I'm glad we can balance each other out...You definitely keep me on my toes and make my life exciting. Love you, TC!
P.S. I still think we should save most of our tax money :)
I am glad that I knew y'all as you started the "attraction" part of your relationship! Y'all certainly are a perfect match...God does know a thing or two about love! Haha!
